The current research analyzes the changes, disruptions and continuities in Mondayacu territory of the Amazonian and its relationship with the impact on the sense of community in the province of Napo. The Amazonian region exhibits the dispute between the indigenous territories, the State, capital interests, and the dominion and control of the territories based on the illusion of a modern state.
In the Amazonian territory, new ways of accumulating capital exist, which are dominating the commodification of natural resources, so they delimit and expand capital over territories. In the case of the Mondayacu Community, the relationship between territory, capital, and labor reflects the impact of capitalism one´s way of life, social relations, and different forms of community organization, which undoubtedly has made impacts on the sense of community for the mentioned Amazonian territories.
Indigenous people have been affected due to the new dynamics of control and domination over their territories, since the Amazonian territory holds economic, political and social interests. The capital interests expose the territories, by fragmenting the different forms of community, weakening their ways of doing and feeling sense of the community. |
