Sumario: The purpose of this document is to determine the decrease in power consumption in Wi-Fi cards of mobile devices running the Android Operating System. To obtain the data on the battery consumption of the devices, four research scenarios were established. For this purpose, a GDS-2102A oscilloscope was used to monitor the voltage levels, as well as time periods, and the Samsung S3 Mini and Music were used as test equipment. As a methodology for measuring several existing methods, the invasive method of the Shunt resistance was chosen, which was connected in series to the battery of the mobile device. Of the measurements made and after carrying out an analysis of the results, it was observed that the consumption total battery 13% corresponds to the Operating System and applications in the background, an average of 23% is used by the Wi-Fi module (with 7 wireless networks nearby) and 64% is used for screen lighting plus applications working in the first and second plane. Therefore, the objective is to reduce the consumption of 23%, for which an application (RES-Dis-WiFi) was developed which automates the switching off and on of the module, as well as filtering the number of networks for the search of nearby networks, these features of the application reduce by 19% in the power consumption of the battery, this means that the average battery life without the application being four hours with 55 minutes, It was increased by one hour with 10 minutes.
