Advances in new technologies, the constant changes of journalism and social
communication in new platforms for local languages have generated transformations
that directly affect political and social action.
From this perspective the construction of social networking movements (Castells,
2012) will be analyzed. Here is where new spaces that allow citizen communication
and new kinds of rhetoric have been created; these ones are understood as different
interpretations of reality and they are shared online to promote involvement in politics
and other areas of common interest. Digital journalism is also involved in these
political and social dynamics in defense of democracy. In this paper digital journalism,
or "online journalism" is linked to the fight in favor of democracy and the construction
of different types of "ciberactivisms" promoting information and data studies in
decision-making processes by various stakeholders.
This article will explore and describe online journalism and new ways of processing
information, which are often linked to socialization processes, creating greater
transparency and benefiting democratic decisions within public communication in the
digital age. |
