The purpose of this research was to conduct an analysis of leadership and managerial skills
in textile businesses in the city of Quito in order to establish the type of leadership and the
factors that have impact on the growth of these companies.
A nonrandom sample consists of 4 textile companies such as Prisma Hogar, Profitex, Textil
Ecuador and Modertex, with a sample comprised 80 subjects between managers or area
managers and subordinates were noted. To analyze the leadership two surveys were
conducted one to determine the type of leadership most used by these organizations, the
instrument used was the questionnaire MLQ 5X short form, and a survey of job satisfaction
developed by Bittel (1985) which also communication and motivation are analyzed. Business
growth as measured through data provided by the companies in the study of annual sales for
the period between 2008 and 2012.
Through these two instruments types of leadership can be transformational, transactional and
laissez faire were analyzed. Also studied as factors affecting leadership and organizational
communication, motivation and job satisfaction. And finally the results obtained with the
organization for each business growth correlated.
In the Analysis of Leadership found that in the Textiles companies Quito is most often used
behaviors transformational leadership, however transactional leadership and leadership
Laissez Faire is also used to a lesser extent and depending on the situation they are.
Leadership that produces a greater effect on business growth is the Transformational
leadership while Laissez faire leadership has a negative effect on business growth. |
