Sumario: The present investigation evaluates a solid organic fertilizer obtained from Azolla filiculoides, which hyper accumulated of iron, promotes growth and development of lettuce in greenhouse conditions. In order to determine the best conditions for bioaccumulation of iron in filiculoides Azolla growth was evaluated in a controlled cultivation medium, keeping constant the concentration of macronutrients, pH, temperature and varying the concentration of iron micronutrient , through ferrous sulfate solutions from 0 , 35; 0.55; 0.75 ppm, and 1,3; 2,6; 5,2; 7,8; 10,4 ppm of EDTA-iron. The medium was changed every 5 days for 3 times. The quantification of iron absorbed into the tissue of Azolla filiculoides was performed using atomic absorption spectrophotometry with airacetylene flame and a wavelength of 248,3nm. The best response was obtained with the EDTA-iron of 10.4 ppm; treatment was replicated in sufficient quantity for cultivation. The inspection of the Lactuca sativa var Inybacea was held for 45 days after the transplant for which the substrate was obtained at Salache Experimental Station located in Latacunga with a low iron; greenhouse cultivation was 2.5k in cases with three different doses of Azolla and Fe-EDDHA, the appraisal was performed of the agronomic characteristics after 45 days. You can set the concentration gave better responses to treatment cultivation was Azolla filiculoides 2g / plant and generally has better characteristics than synthetic iron chelate.
