Communication and new technologies is the main subject developed in the first chapter, where the technical arguments are exposed in order to support the progress of the proposal for the online version of the “NotiUPS” news. The social context on which the digital journalism is developed is shown as first part, which is called “the information society”.
The semiotic aspects, as well as the communication processes had been intervened by the digital environment, and Internet is the biggest social phenomenon of change providing impulse for a new era. And as every global phenomenon it requires time and adaptation to the system. The digital and generational gaps are some of the challenges to overcome in order to consolidate a virtual life inside the same social, politics and economical framework of the real life.
The changes in the journalism work must be joined to the social changes to satisfy the imperative necessity to be correctly informed, and force the analog media to assume changes covering aspects of interaction, development of virtual environments as Web 2.0, and the management of communication products as multimedia, hypermedia, and hypertext.
The results of the field investigations are evidenced in this work, with the purpose to know about the universities in Quito city having online institutional news media. Finally, the design proposal is explained in detail, implementing in that space the concepts and categories object of the investigation, which pretend to improve the broadcasting and the positioning of this institutional news media. |
