This research is a quantitative, correlational and exploratory study intended to measure the perception of the final Agreement for the termination of conflict and the construction of a stable and lasting peace for the Colombian population who suffered forced displacement and is currently living in Quito. Two aspects will be correlated: on the one hand, there is the amount of knowledge that the Colombian population currently displaced in Ecuador has with regards to the Agreement; and on the other, the perception of the psychosocial affectations of mental defeat and post-traumatic growth as a result of their forced displacement. Finally, these aspects will be linked to the variables of the level of knowledge about the Agreement.
The surveyed population has expressed its discomfort with the peace agreement, which was evidenced by the low level of knowledge of the six points it contains; the perception of mental defeat and post-traumatic growth are found at a medium level as if overlapping both psychosocial processes. One might think that the referred population is in a stage of transition linked to the time they have been living in the host country. The people surveyed are at a medium level of post-traumatic growth, and it is probable that a new stage of exploration or discovery of potentialities they had not previously seen has been set in motion, while conceptions of mental defeat persist due to the fact that they require more time to overcome those feelings of inferiority. |
