This paper presents an overview of the situation concerning the metalworking industry of Ecuador. The goal is to determine the factors that influence the industry for the purpose of optimization and increased exports to the countries of the Andean Community of Nations - CAN. The discovered factors will serve to standardize the production chain of the Ecuadorian metalworking industry for all industrial entrepreneurs. This is necessary for modernization and investment proposals to boost the export sector with sustainability expectations in the Bolivian, Peruvian and Colombian markets; countries of the Andean Community of Nations. We'll begin with an analysis of Ecuadorian economic sectors, the importance of the metalworking industry, including the influence of the industry on other industries activities, an analysis of the countries of the Andean Community of Nations with respect to Ecuador and other Latin American countries. To identify the factors, it's necessary to list the strategies which strengthen the industry, so that employers, with the support of both government and worker's unions, can identify new markets and increase sales in existing markets. The importance of analyzing the industry's export potential to the Andean Community market is one of the main points; meaning that a preliminary and impartial study will be conducted to the markets of the member countries, such as Bolivia, Colombia and Peru, without overlooking other foreign competitors, which even though they aren't the main focus of this paper, however will require an extensive analysis, specially the ones that export to the Andean Community of Nations. The proposed strategies will be based upon the information provided by the business sector and will demonstrate the current need, the methods of management and the decisions they make. The next phase will be the implementation and monitoring of the proposed strategies of this study. |
