The research focuses in the importance of the identity recognition that represents for
the Afro-Ecuadorian culture in Carapungo. This has been distorted by the
naturalization of imaginary misconceptions that have unleashed in a social segregation
with the sector in question.
But how has the Afro-Ecuadorian culture developed a process of transformation and
resignification from identity recognition?
Identity recognition is important for any culture, but it has not been easy to obtain.
Afro-Ecuadorians have encountered limitations for this, from historical factors such as
slavery, racial discrimination, imaginary representation, among others. The Afro
Ecuadorian culture has used this and other obstacles in a way of strength to undertake
social struggles, in favor of it, with which they can meet their demands. These have
been through political, social and cultural processes.
The main objective of the research is to show from a different perspective the
participation of Afro-Ecuadorian culture in the Carapungo community, since the
locality has a high index of habitants Afro-Ecuadorians; These are categorized
negatively by their ethnic status and are not considered for their significant
contributions.
The paper seeks to join many others who have aroused interest in the Afro-Ecuadorian
environment, its history and development, in the face of a society that has ignored its
presence, which has enabled it to achieve a transformation of its conception, while at
the same time appropriating a Space with historical relevance in society. |
