Sumario: In this thesis the critical contingencies that could arise during the operation of the National Interconnected System (NIS) are identified and analyzed, for the topological conditions of the 2017 year; which could lead to the partial or total collapse to the NIS; and remedial actions that enable to overcome these critical contingencies are established. The study is carried out for maximum, medium and minimum demand, both for high and low hydrology. To mitigate the adverse effects that would happen in the system; this is, total or partial collapses; some controlled disconnection of a certain percentage of load or generation, are considered; including the formation of balanced electrical islands in the NIS. All simulations in this work, both the dynamic and the steady state, are made with the PowerFactory software. The dynamic simulations are used in the characterization of critical contingencies; and, in addition, in the collection and validation of remedial actions; while steady state simulations were used for the pre-identification of critical contingencies.
