Sumario: Transmission lines AC have been widely investigated as an alternative to the massive power transmission where generating plants are far from load centers. In this research it is proposed to make a mathematical algorithm more accurately to locate faults in transmission lines configured in dual circuit, with which the theory of symmetrical components is used to design the model, taking into account the parameters of the lines transmission and considering the distributed parameter line model. The parameters of the transmission line will be validated in special software for the simulation and analysis of transients in the power system ATP (Alternative Transient Program) and the Matlab mathematical program will be used for simulation and analysis. It is intended to demonstrate that proposed by J. Izykowski, Rosolowski E. and M. Mohan Saha for locating faults in transmission lines of double-circuit method cannot identify precisely the point of fault location. The rapid determination of the location of a fault with acceptable accuracy allows adequate restoration of power supply, resulting in better reliability and safety of Power System.
