This paper presents a vehicle scenario where seeks to obtain an adequate performance implementing a heterogeneous network in several sectors of the Quito city. This type of network presents unique features and challenges in its application due to the coverage, cars high mobility, and the frequent change of topology producing several disconnections, because we have to analyze the network applying wireless access technologies in each scenario allowing the dissemination of communications in real scenarios. This study provides an overview of Ad-Hoc Vehicle Networks (VANET), describes the fundamental concepts and focuses on the application of Wireless Fidelity (WIFI), and Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC), which evaluate the network throughput with parameters based on the number of packets generated, lost and received, resulting in approximately 60% efficiency with heterogeneous networks, compared to scenarios focused on a single technology. |
