Sumario: The present paper proposes a long-term planning of generation expansion for electrical power systems. In order to achieve this goal, it is made an optimization model. This model allows a minimization of investment costs and the ones associated with operation, administration and maintenance of electrical energy production. The costs are related to different technologies of power plants. In order to propose the optimization model, they have been proposed the following assumptions: i) A constant increase of system load during period of analysis. ii) Constant level of reserve percentage to supply constant load. iii) Constant discount rate to value assets on the time. iv) Typical investment costs per technology type. v) Typical operational costs affected by a factor that measures assets aging on the time. As a result of math modeling, it will be obtained an optimal programming for power plants entry for long-term. The programming takes account a costs reduction, allowing demand supply under reliability conditions.
