On Experience: L. Wittgenstein and C.I. Lewis”. This essay attempts to illustrate the parallelism –in spite of certain dissimilarities in their approach and conceptualization– between Wittgenstein’s thought at the beginning of the thirties and C.I. Lewis’ theory of knowledge. The point of comparison is the concept of experience understood as epistemic intercoursewith objects. According to the suggested reading, our epistemic life develops –under the common denominator of our consciousness of conceptual pertinences– as a dynamic game between (vital) certainties and attempts of (rational) knowledge. It should be added, however, that, due to their contextual dependence, these factors are characterized by their provisional as well as by their interchangeable nature. |
