In this paper, the author analyses the connection between authors’ rights and related rights, and Ringtones. First, it specifies what is meant by Ringtone service, differentiating these in monophonic, polyphonic and real tones. Then, it considers that, according to peruvian legislation, ringtones are likely to generate authors’ rights and related rights. Finally, the role of Collective Management Organizations is analyzed in the gathering of income generated by these rights. |
