Sumario: With this essay, I want to explore how some of our findings during the fieldwork at Magdalena de Cao Viejo, Chicama Valley, are related with the examination of identities in an Early Colonial Period site. First, I describe the site and then focus on in key lines of evidence about problems and potentialities to identify assimilation, accommodation, hybridization and resistance through archaeological methods since the beginning of the project to the present.
