Sumario: The relationship between sexual differences and sexual rols was an¡¡lysed in two studies. In the first one, comparative jugdements over 14 stereotypes for sexual rol of the Bem Sex lnventory {BSRI) were asked from pre-university students. Scales for masculinity ad femininity were constructed. The second study used a free translation of the BSRI which was applied to a group of university students and the data were treated with analysis of variance and correlations. The results of both studies helped to establish the stereotypes associated with each sex and how much the sex variable explained differences. The notions of cognitive distortion and ilusory correlation were used for analysing certain stereotypes that are not based, it seems, on sexual differences.
