Sumario: This article is a philosophical reflection on the essential features of that structure of the human being in which the essential presence of God is hidden: the center of the soul. It is intended to demonstrate that the condition of possibility of mystical union is the hidden presence of God in the center of the soul. In the first section I explained that the mystical anthropology of John of the Cross is distinguished both of theodicy and theology and psychology. Later, I show that both being and the existence of man are founded in God. Then, I argue that desire, which is the beginning of the mystical process, is rooted in the presence of God in the center of the soul. Finally, I talk about the two possible ways of life that man can take: the carnal and spiritual existence.
