The present essay addresses some of the linguistic issues that Zubiri had to deal with while drafting Sentient Intelligence. To this end, the complex history of the three key words which compose Zubiri´s trilogy is rebuilt: Intelligence, Logos and Reason. Human Intelligence is sentient. Logos and Reason represent two modalities of Intelligence. Understanding is the supreme mode of rational intellection. These basic themes are studied from a historical perspective, which enables us to grasp the meaning of the words used by Zubiri in his last great noological work. Keywords: Intelligence, sentient, logos, reason, understanding, noology, linguistic perspective |
