Sumario: This article presents a reflection on the implementation of the censure motion as a mechanism of politicalcontrol in Colombia, proposed and widely discussed in the third committee of the National Assembly, andas a paramount role exercised by the legislature which constitutes the core of modern constitutional law,that is, the idea of political control to guarantee the observance of the separation principle and coordinationof the government branches as a condition for the existence of a genuine constitutional rule. An analysisof the concept, process and effectiveness of the Motion of No Confidence in the cases presented in thepresidencies of Cesar Gaviria, Ernesto Samper, Pastrana and Alvaro Uribe, establishing how political controloperates in Colombia and determining its results, key elements of its effectiveness.
