The paper will discuss some consequences of contemporary processof globalization starting from a philosophical discussion of the rela-tionship between “universality” and “particularity”. In the paper willbe exposed and criticized some ideas of “universality” developed in thehistory of philosophy between Plato and Kant. A new idea of “univer-sality” as “universalizability” will be developed from an ethical point ofview (rooted in the christian tradition) and the practice of language and of communication will be identified as a concrete frame for managingthe problems involved by contemporary globalization. |
