Sumario: Transitory apical breakdown is a moderate injury of the pulp or a combined injury between periodontal ligament (PDL) and the pulp in teeth with complete radical formation. It happens as a result of a trauma induced by orthodontic forces and/or dentoalveolar trauma, in which the traumatized tissues experience a spontaneous process of repair of these structures without causing a permanent damage in the pulp. The clinical manifestations are alterations in sensitivity, change of color, root resorption, bony re-absorption or obliteration of the root canal. The purpose of this paper is to make a review about the more important aspects of the transitory apical breakdown.
