Sumario: Qualitative study that represents the social imaginaries of an specific group, the Association of Independent Taxi Drivers of Callao, through their life stories. The purpose of this research is to understand the way in which such individuals construct and communicate their relationship with the city. This approach use communication and social imaginary theories by authors like Baeza, Hall, Bourdieu, Gaggiotti, Simmel, among others, to recognize the interpretation of the space through memories, problems, necessities and aspirations. The analysis of fundamental categories, which are found in shared stories, such as migration, fishing in the 50’s, terrorism, job security and current economic situation, allows the access to an everyday environment, the identification of desires for advocacy and awareness and the recognition of past, present and future reality. This input helps reflect about the problems a city faces in terms of economic, social and cultural implications.
