This article aims to contribute to the understanding of digital participation in culture in the Cuban scenary. To this end, it describes the main results of the qualitative study, through the Grounded Theory, of a concrete experience of participation in Cuba: a free software community. The results of the research allow conceptualizing digital participation in culture as it happens in Cuba as a strongly contextualized process, dependent on the institutional environment in which it unfolds. This understanding allows an integral and productive understanding of digital participation from the theoretical and conceptual point of view. |
