The aim of this research was to evaluate and compare the efficiency of the chemical oxidation of the domestic waste water from the municipality of Une Cundinamarca with Fenton and with Hidrogenperoxide,I n order to establish if this wastewater was able to receive a different or complementary treatment to the Biological one currently used.
For this purpose, the sample of wastewater was coagulated in laboratory with Aluminum Hidroxichloride in order, the best concentration of this chemical in the removal of solids; subsequently, the optimal pH range was established, within the theoretical range at which the oxidation processes are carried out more efficiently. These first proceedings prevent overcost and lead to more consistent results. For this research a pH range of (5,5, 6,0 and 6,5), since it was observed that the coagulation at these pH values had better removal efficiencies not only in the coagulation but also in the chemical oxidation processes.
Solids removal efficiencies were around to 70 % using the Fenton process; after nearly half an reaction. On the contrary, removal oxidation process by means of Hydrogenperoxide was up to 40 % during the same reaction time. Removal rates were higher when compared to the efficiency of the current wastewater treatment plant; therefore it can be an option for the optimization or substitution of the existing technology.
The obtained results were analyzed to correlate the behavior of the chemical oxidation in sewage according to the pH, velocity of reaction, concentration of oxidizers and type of oxidizing agents. |
