Sumario: The following research empirically examine whether financial deepening contributes to economic growth in Colombia during the period 2004-2014. Using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and some alternatives of the same error correction outputs as generalized least squares or even the VCE, the regression to Colombia was estimated over 11 years in a monthly way. The empirical results show a clear and significant financial deepening increases the growth. The above relationship was controlled by trade openness, inflation, savings and FDI. These results emphasize the importance of the financial system amid the economy. Keywords: Financial deepening, economy, economic growth. OLS.
