Sumario: The text presented corresponds to the introduction of the book La fabrique du patrimoine. “De la cathédrale a la petite cuillère” by the same author who reflects on the concept of heritage and all it stands today. In these lines, a synthesis of what is involved in our times the concept and its extension as a result of the inclusion of works, whether they are valuable for their uniqueness, or effect of a topographic extension that exceeds the look of architecture and urbanism to understand the territories and a range of expressions that give particular meanings. The author takes up claims of different historians who identify the eighties of the twentieth century as the equity surge, giving more importance to memory and approaching the limit of “everything is heritage”. Critical to this notion, approach will open a debate regarding identity factors, scales of representation that account for the diversity of peoples.
