This work presents a thorough analysis of the image promoted by printed media in Colombia about individuals who abandon illegal armed activities in order to redirect their lives. Starting from a broad context study, this work analyzes the way the newspapers El Tiempo and El Espectador, as well as the magazines Semana and Cambio, convey this information. In order to attain this, the Research Group on Journalism at Universidad de La Sabana (Spanish acronym gip) studied, among other factors, the kind of source, the role of reinserted individuals, the wording of titles and the viewpoints. This was based on samples collected from January 1st, 2005, to September 30th, 2006. |
