Sumario: Acceptance of a diagnosis such as Down Syndrome, is for parents a slow process with different stages that make up such fear, uncertainty, anxiety, denial and finally assimilation process the child's condition. According to John D. Vallejo Martínez (2001) parents of children with disablities that prevent feelings permeated understand the situation and often don´t know what to do about it. They feel a series of natural reactions to the negative aspects of limitation, thus resulting in a primitive defense against psychological distress. Therefore the aim of this research was on the one hand characterize parental attitudes towards the condition of their children with disabilities, in this case with Down syndrome and identify the level of cognitive development of these children ages 6 and 7 and thus an interpretation of each variable without establishing some correlation. To this end, they participated in the research eight families whose child of 6-7 years of age had been diagnosed with Down syndrome. Data collection was obtained through a survey of attitudes through Likert scale on parents and measurement of cognitive development was through the ENI test aimed at children.
