Sumario: This paper describes the construction of resilience and the adversity experiences within a context of poverty and vulnerability for five single mothers living in the city of San Luis Potosi, SLP, Mexico. Using a qualitative methodology, semi-structured individual interviews were conducted and evaluated with structured content analysis, from which codes and categories were obtained that allowed the identification of context and daily life conditions related to resilience. The study contributes to the identification of processes by which resilience is built from the experiences of parenthood, well as the pursuit of their daughters’ welfare from meanings attributed to adverse situations, to recognition of their own psychological resources and to conditions that benefit their life context. The findings provide some evidence on the importance of promoting the resilience by recovering their personal narratives and goals for women living in conditions of vulnerability. The results are located in the field of comprehensive mental health, in which the social factors involved in the quality of life are recognized.
