The purpose of the study was to analyze through a case study what subjective senses a teenager, who has been diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, can build based in his life experiences. It was a descriptive study characterized for its qualitative type. Three semi-structured interviews were conducted, two of them by the participant and the other one by his mother. The information obtained through the interviews was codified and categorized in order to be analyzed later. Results show that facts occurred in the teenager’s life were determinant in order to transform the meaning usually given to the Asperger’s Syndrome. Furthermore, the study helps to understand that support is essential to build the subjective senses. To sum up, the Asperger’s Syndrome should not be seen as a diagnostic label, but as a particular and unique lifestyle. |
