Sumario: This article starts with the formulation of a central hypothesis which proposes a bibliographic and document study of the authors considered «essential» in a process of foundation of the hypothesis itself. Four types of bibliographic referents are taken: first, some of conceptual order about utopia; second, referents that link utopias with the imaginary, millenarianism and prophecy; third, bibliographic referents related directly to the Franciscans of the New World; and finally documental sources relative to the Franciscans in the Nuevo Reino de Granada. After this bibliographic review has been done, it can be stated that no conceptual development is found in the Nuevo Reino de Granada or during the XVI and XVII centuries. Thus, there is an academic-interpretative challenge that I decide to assume serious and responsibly.
