International Cooperation for Development is no longer a theory on the necessary economic liberalization and growth which were to be experienced by nations after World War II, and has given place to a new concept as a result of the East-West divide in the international system. Its reorientation under the perspective of the environment and its essential commitment to sustainable development not only allows for an increase in funding, but also to the application of solution mechanisms and modalities of varied nature. In the following article, International Cooperation for Development is approached from sustainability, using as a starting point the topic of sewage drainage and its regulations, both at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climatic Change, as well as the protocol subscribed in 1997 by the Conference of Parties. |
