Sumario: The politics of recognition begins from the basic forms of recognition: Love, Law, and Solidarity. From the above mentioned forms of recognition, following A. Honneth, are posed the personal problems confronted by individuals struggling for their own identity: The contempt derived from violation, destitution/ dispossession, and dishonor. Violation refers to the outrage or utter disregard to a personís body and, therefore, corresponds to a denial of love. Violation implies physical violence of any sort to the body or the psyche, causing an offense, a negative feeling to whom suffers such abuse, which leads on many occasions towards death. Dispossession means to jeopardize a personís right to own property, of any sort, and therefore, corresponds to a denial to the recognition that derives from Law. Finally, dishonor, the denial to the recognition of solidarity, infringing social recognition, as well as a personís reputation as regarded by others, implying therefore, an enormous scorn since it is encompassed within a social conglomerate.
