Sumario: Introduction: the hearing health corresponds to all those actions that are planned and carried out with the aim of preventing risk factors, which are contrary to the organ of hearing and its function. Objective: to determine the risk factors influencing on the alteration of the hearing, due to inadequate hygiene practices reported in the scientific literature. Methodology: to develop this research was conducted a search in the literature through the consultation of different sources of information, using the key words such as <<Hearing loss>> <<Hearing Care>> <<adult>> <<child>>, taken from the thesauri DeCS and MeSH and using the Boolean operators (AND) AND (NOT) <<Hearing loss>> (AND) <<Risk factor>> <<adult>> <<child>> (NOT) << Occupational>> for your combination at the time of the search in the EBSCO databases, Springer, SCIENCE DIRECT AND SCOPUS, in a period of publication between 2007 and 2017. The inclusion criteria employees, correspond to original articles that declare a research design of cases and controls, which showed risk factors and consequences of inadequate hygiene practices and hearing were excluded articles relating to occupational field and congenital type of hearing loss. Results: hearing impairment caused by inadequate hygiene practices are mainly due to the lack of knowledge about the ear care, life style and inappropriate habitat, difficulties in gaining access to health services, and environmental risk factors. We excluded studies regarding the occupational field and those that show abnormalities congenital type because it does not correspond to the criteria of inclusion raised.
