Sumario: This article shows the mediating function of music to influence an astonishing discipline of subjection to death. It’s based on two significant events: The extermination in concentration camps of National Socialism with music by Wagner and the call to drowning of sailors in the epic poem the Odyssey with the singing of the Sirens. The proposal of this exercise is to outline interpretive meanings of the mediating function of music from the analysis the ultimate form of cultural mediation possible for music, driving to death.
