This work was born as a proposal to review and give a privileged place to the comprehensive theories about psychosis, and more specifically of paranoia. That is why we decided to focus on knowing the path of this clinical entity in the psychiatric and psychoanalytic twentieth century´s postulates. For all this, a review of the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (DSM) in its different versions was carried out, because it fulfills the normative function in the psychiatric and psychological procedure in our context.
Now, as an alternative proposition to this descriptive procedure of the symptomatology posed by the manual, proposals are deployed from a Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalytic perspective, being these authors’ fundamental pillars within that perspective. In first place, a screening performed in the department of Antioquia is presented, showing the prevalence of psychotic symptoms, and then continue with the gradual abandonment of the concept throughout the years of the publication of the different versions of the Diagnostic and statistical Manual, to, finally, expand the comprehensive panorama of paranoia through psychoanalysis applied to a case proposed by said manual |
