Introduction: Basketball one of the most popular sports in the world, the injury rate is high, in lower limbs one of the most frequent is patellar tendinitis, which is evaluated with the explosive strength test and prevented with exercises eccentric Objective: To determine the relationship that exists between eccentric exercises, explosive
strength and pain in the patellar tendon in Cartagena basketball players. Methodology: Cross-sectional, analytical study, in which 27 Basketball athletes from Cartagena participated, who met the inclusion criteria. The Abalakov test, the VISA P SP questionnaire and the eccentric exercise surveys carried out by the participants in their sporting life were carried out. The statistical program SPSS was used, nonparametric tests
were used. Chi-square test with Yates correction. Phi coefficient, Kruskal - Wallis test and Cohen f. Results: The relationship between jump with impulse and the number of eccentric exercises performed resulted in P-value 0.07 and the same jump in relation to the average of exercises performed was P-value 0.007. The relationship between pain in the patellar tendon was not determined because only one athlete presented pain and minimal pain. Conclusion: It was determined that there is a strong relationship between the eccentric exercises and the explosive strength in lower limbs, therefore, it can be inferred that the more eccentric exercises the athletes perform, the more strength they will obtain when performing the jumps in their lower limbs |
