Sumario: Informe para optar el título de Administrador de Negocios. The main objective of this article is to analyze the impact of the FTA with the United States on the services of the Colombian insurance sector to determine advantages and disadvantages for Colombia in the insurance sector of the country. Likewise, the challenges that Colombia must observe in the framework of this Treaty are established, for this, a contextual framework was elaborated in order to demonstrate the dynamics of the negotiation of trade in services in global markets, identifying the service modality to which are referred to in insurance matters. The methodology used was of a descriptive nature, resorting to secondary sources performing analysis and interpretation of the information collected. The main result found focuses on the changes to the national insurance system that allow regulating the activity of foreign insurance providers in a transparent and clear manner, strengthening protection policies for the Colombian insurance sector, especially domestic consumers; Likewise, it is concluded that the insurance sector has been the basis for national savings and financial strength in the country with challenges that must be studied in order to develop the sector.
