Sumario: As a result of the spontaneous growth of the city of Cartagena, its urban development acts in a similar way to that of a rhizome. The definition of this concept is due to the fact that its organization does not follow a line, nor structure, on the contrary, they break the ties that codify or solidify it; since each of the elements that comprise it can affect or affect one over the other. Delluze - Guattari (1980). Taking into account the analysis of the rhizome theory, the behavior of the Amparo pump sector is studied, which presents the problems of deterioration and lack of control of the built and non-built spaces. For this, it is proposed to design a project of urban architectural renovation, through new proposals of public space and re-densification that contribute to the sustainable development in the social, political, economic and environmental field in the sector. Initially a participatory process is carried out with the community, collecting relevant information through the MAPP methodology (Altadir Method of Popular Planning), however, by means of the rhizome theory proposed by Delluze - Guattari, it will allow us to understand the multiple nodes of activities in the sector, thrown by the rhizome of the city; for the development of the urban renewal project. The development of the research is done through the general theory of systems, which raises approximation scales: macro, meso and micro, which will define the products that will respond to the needs of the sector. Finally, a sustainable urban renewal proposal is achieved, proposing fourstory multifamily buildings, where there were single-family homes as well as a landscaping proposal in the area of the area defined for the intervention
