Sumario: The present research consists on determining the state of the cognitive functions of 40 elderly, between men and women. For the development of this research, it was used the quantitative methodology, which allowed to measure the cognitive area, as well as the analysis of the data obtained, the ones that were collected by some psychological reagents such as: Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Test Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-IV). The field notes of the observations that were made during the process, also contribute to the analysis of the results and theory, because this supports the research. The results concluded that, most of the elderly do not have significant cognitive impairments, however, a small percentage of the study population has a mild cognitive impairment, which does not affect the daily life and either the interpersonal relationships of the elderly. It was possible to observe that there are areas of cognition that show a slight decline, while others have remained and even kept increasing.
