Sumario: In the present project of investigation an analysis was carried out dealing with the urban cultures that have appeared recently in our society, giving a general focus; and in particular to the cosplay movement in the city of Quito. A video report was made as a final product which demonstrates the transformation of the being, their communications practices, social representation, within new cultural expressions, like in the present case of the cosplay movement. In the first instance a field investigation was carried out. The methodology used consisted of using the technique of participant observation, at the same time as documenting interviews such as life testimonies of the organizations that were major exponents of the cosplay movement. On the grounds that our society is every day more visual, a video report was manufactured that pretends to instruct, teach, and attract the recipients, in this way like a graphic description of the transformation that human beings experience to represent a fictional character, which helps to better the character, provide security within themselves, lose the embarrassment, and finally utilize art as a means to express themselves. The final project had the objective to give an understanding to the spectators of cosplay that it is a healthy and creative form of expression principally for the youth, creating comprehensible material focused on the identity and pertinence of the feelings of the cosplayer, the manner of communication amongst themselves and the rest of the population, and the way in which they would wish that society perceived them accepted and included.
