Sumario: The main objective of this research was to evaluate the impact caused by land use change caused by the expansion of the agricultural frontier and population growth that has occurred in recent years in the river basin Alambi. • Scenario 1: Current status of the basin (base scenario). • Scenario 2: Areas to be deforested the part of those involved in the basin (Advance agricultural frontier). • Scenario 3: Population Projection of parishes within the watershed. • Scenario 4: Population Projection and areas to be deforested. To determine the variation of water resources from the point of view of utilization and water balance, we used the model SWAT, and moreover to determine maximum volume flood of the basin, it was decided to use the hydrological model HEC-HMS. The calibration of the models SWAT and HEC-HMS was performed through a setting of parameters more sensitive that affect the volume of water production in the models. Once calibrated the hydrological models for both water balance and floods, we proceeded to simulate the proposed scenarios. For the SWAT model, the volumes of water in rainy periods increased and in dry periods decreased with respect to the baseline scenario. In the case of HEC-HMS model flood volume increased significantly.
