In Ecuador, petroleum is the main source of income; the production and phases of oil industry can affect the environment, mainly through pollution from spills, being necessary remedy this damage somehow. Phytoremediation is presented as a low cost alternative technology for cleaning contaminated soil. The aim of this were to evaluate the levels of tolerance and phytoremediation potential of Ludwigia peruviana, Mimosa polydactyla, Verbena litoralis and Tessaria integrifolia in soil contaminated with petoleum, by comparing the change (quantitative disappearance) in the heavy hydrocarbon fraction content in such soils by gravimetric method. |
