Forests influence climate through physical, chemical and biological processes affecting atmospheric composition, planetary energy and the hydrological cycle; these non-linear and complex interactions can amplify or dampen anthropogenic climate change. Forestation and reforestation attenuate global warming by carbon sequestration; and biogeophysical feedback can improve or reduce this negative climate force. Forests mitigate warming through evaporative cooling; and the albedo under the forests generates a positive forcing climate; the evaporative effect of forests is not clear, and the forcing climate of these processes is unknown, forests are under the enormous pressure of global change. Research on the climatic, atmospheric and ecological impacts of forest fires has grabbed attention. However, little is known about the impact of climate changes on vegetation and forest fires. The response of vegetation to fire is characterized by the degradation of communities of xerophytic and pyrophytic plants, dominated by grasses and invasive of fire tolerant shrubs. Climate change can affect forests by altering the frequency, intensity, duration and timing of fire, drought, introduced species, insect and pathogen outbreaks, hurricanes, wind or rainstorms, or landslides. This work addresses the main interactions of fire, vegetation and atmosphere; the predictions on climate change impacts highlight possible impacts on forest biomes, and the parameters involved in the process. |
