This document seeks to analyze the possibilities and limitations posed by the
Theater of the Oppressed as a strategy to build new masculinities among young
males with refugee status, and as an alternative to prevent gender-based violence by
exposing a system of oppression that forces men into certain discourses and actions
that cause harm to themselves and others. Additionally, the document seeks to
highlight the necessity of building spaces intended for men to meet, share, create,
and reflect upon the patriarchal structures that regulate their actions and their bodies;
all whilst demonstrating the viability of theater as a tool to foster interpersonal
bonds, closeness, the decolonization of the body, and both individual and collective
transformation. |
