This research aims to know how the pedagogical practices of Religious School Teaching (RST) are developed in 4th, 5th and 6th grade of Basic General Education (BGE) in the Government/Religious Educational San Vicente Ferrer Unit, in Puyo city, Pastaza province, theoretically grounding the meaning and importance of religious school teaching.
An ethnographic method has been used for this research, using several tools of observation and data collection.
The result of this research has shown that even though there are teachers who use suitable and creative pedagogical resources to communicate the contents to the students, there are many who do not value this subject and therefore are not able to motivate them. They are not sufficiently prepared in the (BGE) in terms of subject-matter.
It is advisable to value more by the Institution this subject-matter and to do what is possible to train the teachers in the religious school education, in religious contents and religious pedagogy.
This research highlights the importance of RST for a holistic formation of the student in the way that not only technical and academic contents are necessary for their formation but religious culture and Christian values. |
