Sumario: Loading and unloading products is a daily and vital operation in the logistics of all the industries. Moving products represents significant costs to the company’s budget, and there are always alternatives to improve the processes, reducing the time to the minimum. This alternative must be safe for the operative, the product, and the machinery that is used for its mobilization. The principal objective of this thesis is to design a fitted hydraulic quayside levelmaker with an integral and reliable capacity of 11000 kg, one that makes the process of moving goods safe, from a quay towards a container placed at a different height to eliminate long periods of time during the loading and unloading process, and the use of an eco-friendly equipment. We have developed this project that consists of four stages, where we make a careful study of the most important aspects related to the design. The first stage presents the general antecedents about the different forms of communicate two levels situated at different heights, the loading and unloading processes, the fundamental problem and the necessity of designing this project. We also analyze the bases and specifications that this level maker will have, within the physical space of the store room. We realized a matrix of decision to elect the best alternative, taking into account some important aspects, such as investment, load capacity, maintenance, operation facilities, and changeableness, analyzing similar equipments that could be made for doing this job, and defining the performance of the equipment. The second stage presents the theory related to the resistance of materials and components of hydraulic systems. Various criteria have been taken into account to design the different elements, such as adequate materials to accomplish the job that must be done by the quayside and the dimensions. In this way we will be able to guarantee a proper performance. The quayside consists of six important parts in its structure: principal base, columns, platform, lip, hinges, and the hydraulic system. The parts are to resist 11000 kg. This study is based on mechanical engineering design norms, (AISC, ASTM, INEN). In the stage three we analyze the costs according to the actual market, considering the cost of materials and labour, and getting a final price. In the stage four, we make a manual, specifying the performance and maintenance of the designed machine. The operation manual consists of graphics that guide readers through how to manipulate the buttons. We have also designed a manual that shows how to maintain the machine with daily, monthly and yearly revisions to extend the working time of the machine. When this project is set in the future, it will be possible to optimize the delivery of goods, the use of electric equipments and manuals at work, and stop using equipments that function with the use of gasoline.
