The following research aims to contribute to the studies of contemporary feminist movements in the city of Quito, from the understanding of their conceptions and practices around gender violence through participant observation and narrative productions.
We selected three feminist movements that during 2017 and 2018 were active and visible in different spaces from a process of participant observation. We selected: forums, manifestations, media, 'plantones', workshops, etc. The key informants who participated in this research were reached through relationship networks. The sample was based on women, active participants in the feminist movement, adults and spokespersons of their social movement.
Weaving the narrative productions and participant observation, this research shows that intersectionality is present in the conception of feminism of each movements and in their conceptions about gender violence. Each feminist movements have particularities in their conceptions, actions, speeches, performative resources and strategies of change in terms of gender violence. As we reviewed before the gender violence is not only limited to the issue of human rights and health. It is also traversed by sexual liberties, for violence in public spaces and disciplinary practices. And also we have the subject of class as an emerging category. |
