Sumario: Hydrological information was obtained from the Chontal hydroelectric project, in this thesis the updating of existing hydrological data was performed to make the diversion tunnel design objective of this work. Similarly we proceeded with the geological, geotechnical system related information forwarding. Once you update your information we proceeded to approach and analysis of the alternatives that could be useful for the system Chontal diversion project; This analysis shows that, according to hydrological, geological - geotechnical and topographical the best choice for the diversion of the Guayllabamba River is a tunnel of circular section with a D = 12m, for this diameter analysis was performed with flow pressure and free surface flow. Protodyakonov model, followed by the design of a wall to serve as a portal in the entrance and exit of the tunnel, and the calculation for the front end of the channel was used to determine the stability of the dome of the tunnel, determining the optimal diameter the rock that form part of rockfill resist the flow filtration without causing its collapse. Once obtained all parameters for tunnel construction proceeded to conduct budget analysis of the most representative items, and a comparison of purchases of existing project took place.
